Caroline Blaike is a queer ASL performer and interpreter, as well as a dancer at LA’s iconic strip club Jumbo’s Clown Room. Though hearing, she shares kinship with the people she signs for. Both dancers and the deaf community face outdated stigmas that obscure the skill, depth, and autonomy in their lives and work. This photo series explores the potency of bodies as language, defying ignorance in a way that is audacious, unapologetically sexy and unexpectedly LOUD.
